Mountaineering Melodies No. 17: Hyper-ballad

Bjork. Hyper-ballad. 1995

We live on a mountain
Right at the top
There's a beautiful view
From the top of the mountain
Every morning I walk towards the edge
And throw little things off
Like: car-parts, bottles and cutlery
Or whatever I find lying around
It's become a habit
A way to start the day

What more can we say? No sooner does TAC slag the tiny journophobe than she confesses all. Yes, it was her scuttling away from the scene of the climb having dropped detritus all around. Yes, she was the chief target of 1995's Summit Sweep. Her latest CD Post is now seen for what it is: a concept album about Creag Meagaidh, as further shown by another track, The Modern Things: All the modern things / Like cars and such / Have always existed / They've just been waiting in a mountain / For the right moment. Bizarre.
